  • Homahuti is a Vedic astrological concept used to determine the auspiciousness of performing a Homa or Yagna a Vedic astrological concept used to determine the auspiciousness of performing a Homa or Yagna (fire ritual), especially for events like Griha Pravesh (housewarming) or Graha Shanti (pacifying planetary influences).(f. It relies on the “Agni Chakra” and the relative distance between the Sun’s Nakshatra and the Moon’s Nakshatra to predict the specific outcome of the ritual. The location of the “Agni” (fire) and the type of Ahuti (offering) are key. A favorable Homahuti, with Agni on Earth and an Ahuti favorable to a beneficial planet, can lead to positive results like wealth, intelligence, and satisfaction, while an unfavorable alignment, where Agni resides in the underworld or the Ahuti targets a malefic planet, can lead to loss, destruction, or illness.

  • How Homahuti Works
    Agni Chakra:
A core principle that determines whether the fire is located on Earth, in the sky (Akasha), or in the underworld (Patala).

  • Sun and Moon Nakshatras:
The calculation of Homahuti is based on the relative positions of the Sun’s and Moon’s Nakshatras (lunar mansions).

  • Auspicious Timing:
An ideal time for a Homahuti is when Agni is located on the Earth, which is considered an auspicious position for fire rituals.
    Planetary Outcomes by Ahuti (Offering)
The result of the ritual depends on which planet the Ahuti is considered to be for:
    Favorable Outcomes:
Budha (Mercury): Leads to intellectual growth and increased wealth.
Brihaspati (Jupiter): Results in the fulfillment of desires and satisfaction.
Shukra (Venus): Augments wealth and comfort.

  • Unfavorable Outcomes:
Surya (Sun): Can cause a loss of comfort and wealth.
Chandra (Moon): May lead to crop destruction due to inundation.
    Mangala (Mars): Creates a fear
    • of fire.
    • Shani (Saturn): Can harm the nation and destroy wealth.
    • Rahu and Ketu: Generally lead to all sorts of losses, famine, and serious health issues.
